$250 Million Apple Siri Settlement: How to Claim Up to $95

Cupertino, California — Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class action lawsuit over claims it overhyped Siri's Apple Intelligence upgrade before the feature was ready, and eligible US iPhone buyers now have until December 21 to file for a share, according to WIRED.

The suit centered on Apple's marketing of a revamped Siri assistant tied to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 lines, features the company promoted heavily before the rollout slipped. The overhauled Siri has since shipped for owners of newer iPhones through iOS 27, WIRED reported, but that does not affect eligibility for past purchases made during the window covered by the settlement.

Who Qualifies for a Payout?

The settlement covers US customers who purchased certain iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 models directly from Apple between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, according to WIRED. Claimants must attest to a specific statement on the claim form: "I expected to receive a Siri Apple Intelligence feature and did not receive it."

How Much Can Claimants Receive?

Eligible buyers can receive up to $95 for each qualifying phone, WIRED reported. Customers who bought more than one covered device must submit a separate claim form for each phone.

How Do You File a Claim?

Claims are filed through the settlement's dedicated site, smartphoneaisettlement.com. Filers click the "File A Claim" button in the top right corner of the homepage. A Claim ID and PIN are requested but not required to begin the process, according to WIRED. On the final step, claimants need either their iPhone's serial number or their Apple Account ID. The serial number can be found by opening the Settings app, tapping General, then About, where it appears as a string of letters and numbers near the top of the screen. Payment options include PayPal, Venmo, an electronic bank transfer, or a paper check.

What Does Apple Say About the Settlement?

Apple has denied wrongdoing as part of the agreement. "We resolved this matter to stay focused on doing what we do best, delivering the most innovative products and services to our users," the company said in a statement cited by WIRED when the settlement was reached in May.

When Is the Deadline to File?

Claimants have until December 21 to submit their forms, WIRED reported. Filing after that date is not addressed in the settlement materials reviewed, so buyers who believe they qualify are advised to file before the cutoff rather than wait.

The case adds to a series of legal challenges Apple has faced over its Apple Intelligence marketing, though the company's public defense has remained consistent: that the settlement resolves a dispute rather than concedes any misrepresentation of the Siri rollout timeline.
