President Vladimir Putin's United Russia party has won more than 58 percent of the vote in State Duma elections, putting it on track for more than three-quarters of seats in the lower house, according to near-complete official results reported by Al Jazeera. Voting ran over three days and concluded Sunday, with turnout reported at almost 60 percent.

How many seats did United Russia actually win?

The State Duma has 450 seats, and a party controlling more than three-quarters of them can pass most legislation, including constitutional amendments requiring supermajorities, without relying on other factions. United Russia has dominated Russian politics for 25 years, according to Al Jazeera, and this result extends that run to a record supermajority.

Which other parties made it into the Duma?

Three parties cleared the threshold for seats. The Communist Party, which has criticized some government policy while avoiding criticism of Putin himself, took 13.8 percent of the vote and 40 seats. Russia's Supreme Court removed the party from the national ballot last month, leaving it with only a few dozen candidates in single-seat regional races. Yabloko said on social media it won about 12,000 votes — just over 6 percent — enough to enter the regional legislature in Novgorod region, in western Russia. Both Yabloko and the Communist Party said many of their poll observers were turned away from polling stations, according to the party statements cited by Al Jazeera.

Were international observers present?

Russia did not invite observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the OSCE of "double standards" over its past criticism of Russian elections. OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Pere Joan Pons said the exclusion violated Russia's commitments as a member state, according to Al Jazeera's reporting. Central Electoral Commission chair Ella Pamfilova confirmed Yabloko's failure to win national seats in comments carried by the outlet.

The result leaves United Russia's legislative dominance effectively unchecked heading into a fifth year of the war with Ukraine, even as Al Jazeera reports the conflict has grown more unpopular domestically.
